About
The Artist
I was born in London, Ontario Canada
April 25, 1952 and settled in Ingersoll, Ontario, just a few miles
from London, at the age of 13. My 12 year marriage to my first husband
produced a set of identical twin boys in 1972 and they have given
me five wonderful Grandchildren, 4 girls and one boy!
My husband David and I have been together
over 26 years and he has a son 9 months younger than the twins!
No Grandkids from him yet but we’ll see! I am blessed to have
such a wonderful family and find that I am wanting to be surrounded
by them more and more! The role of ‘Nanny’ comes with
great perks, allowing me to be kid again when I play with them!
Although I was always attracted to art
and sketched a little during my childhood and young adult years,
the duties of Motherhood took precedence over this interest. It
wasn’t until the late 80’s that allowed me to pursue
my artistic interest as a hobby at first, when I was invited by
a co-worker to attend a painting class. I was hooked the second
I picked up the brush.
Like most who get involved in Decorative
Art, my beginnings found me painting many of the whimsical designs
and it wasn’t long after I began, that I was asked to teach
some of the lovely designs I was painting for myself. A few years
later I was designing my own patterns from a subject dear to my
heart…..animals! This ‘passion’ produced two books
‘K-9 Kuties & K-9 Beauties’, a detailed CD book,
‘K-9’s & Kitties’, dozens of pattern packets,
booklets and publications in several magazines, nationwide.
Everything changes including artists
and I am no different. My passion for art has me longing to incorporate
the animals in their habitat and that has led me to the understanding
that education can take me to places only my wildest dreams ever
envisioned! This realization directed me to many educational accomplishments
and certificates but none quite as influential to my painting and
understanding of the theory behind it as when I took the Traditions
education program.
This ‘life-long’ study is something
that I recommend to every artist. The educated artists has no limits
as to what they can do! Like many, I believed artistic success came
mostly from talent but I’ve since learned that education plays
the biggest role in that success. If you are interested in becoming
the more independent artist, I highly recommend you look into this
program at www.jansenarttraditions.com/media/education.html
With this in mind, those who have
followed my work will see a change in both my designs and presentation
as you view some of my newer patterns and booklets. My art never
fails me during good and bad times and whether I am working at it
as a therapeutic release or because I’ve been inspired, it
is and always will be my best friend. My love for this craft of
decorative art is unconditional and makes me feel good. I hope I
can do the same for you through my work. Enjoy
your stay on my site and I hope you also take the time to view some
more personal photos on my Webshots albums located at http://community.webshots.com/user/moeshier.
